He wrote across forms with unusual range. His novels include L'Esclusa, The Turn, Il fu Mattia Pascal, and One, No One and One Hundred Thousand, while the short fiction collection Novels for a Year extended his work in prose. As a playwright he produced Six Characters in Search of an Author, Henry IV, Clothing the Naked, and Ma non è una cosa seria, among others. He also worked as a director and screenwriter, widening the reach of his output beyond the page. He received the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre in addition to the Nobel distinction, two honors that marked the public standing he had earned over decades of work in Italian letters.\n\nPirandello died in Rome on 10 December 1936, having sustained a body of work — in at least two languages and across at least four distinct forms — that the Nobel committee saw fit to single out from among his contemporaries. The Nobel Prize in Literature remains the most prominent formal acknowledgment his career received.","In 1934, the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Luigi Pirandello, a recognition that gathered into a single moment the many threads of a career spanning poetry, fiction, drama, and the screen.","luigi-pirandello",null,[14,18,22,25],{"tag_id":15,"tag_name":16,"tag_count":17},24,"life",10,{"tag_id":19,"tag_name":20,"tag_count":21},56,"thinking",5,{"tag_id":23,"tag_name":24,"tag_count":21},326,"men",{"tag_id":26,"tag_name":27,"tag_count":21},44238,"vita",{"quotes":29,"pagination":93},[30,38,45,51,57,63,69,75,81,87],{"id":31,"quote_text":32,"author_id":5,"source_id":33,"has_image":34,"author":35,"source":36,"quote_tag":37,"commentary":12},3802424,"The history of mankind is the history of ideas.",7,false,{"id":5,"author_name":6,"slug":11,"author_name_first_letter":7,"article_count":8,"image_url":12},{},[],{"id":39,"quote_text":40,"author_id":5,"source_id":41,"has_image":34,"author":42,"source":43,"quote_tag":44,"commentary":12},3238770,"Personally, I don’t give a rap for documents; for the truth in my eyes is not in them but in the mind.",6,{"id":5,"author_name":6,"slug":11,"author_name_first_letter":7,"article_count":8,"image_url":12},{},[],{"id":46,"quote_text":47,"author_id":5,"source_id":41,"has_image":34,"author":48,"source":49,"quote_tag":50,"commentary":12},3238768,"Woman – for example, look at her case!
