There was a difficulty in considering the world of ordinary perception to be real and taking it seriously. This led to a sort of permanent capacity to see the world from a humorous viewpoint. Ordinary life seemed to be an endless comedy so that even seriousness itself was humorous. It became necessary to quell expressions of the sense of humor that some people were unable to accept because they were so deeply involved in the perceptual world of negativity.
