And in that instant, the walls stopped caving in on him. The crushing pressure leaped off his chest. The broken pieces of his soul fell away and drowned in a mighty, crashing peace. He let it roll over him again and again, filling him like a well, like the sunrise, like the rain, like a new bird realizing its wings, and knew intuitively that all the love and solace he had experienced until now was nothing more than a wisp of a half-forgotten dream in some realm not nearly as real as this one.
