When I arrived, I took detective work because it was what I knew how to do. I solve a mystery, and for a little while, I can keep the feeling at bay. The feeling that I’m lost. That I’m bad at life. That I’m a failure. But ‘at bay’ isn’t the same thing as ’gone.
