Being apprehensive of my culture sounds bizarre, especially after being kept away from it until then, but part of me did not feel like I belonged. Also I didn’t want to appear stupid and they would certainly know that I did not belong if I started asking questions. When you don’t know what you don’t know, how do you know what to ask?
