Dualistic, patriarchal religion cuts humanity off from an entire pole of being, calling it evil and devilish. This type of religion tells people that exploring this pole of the human being is sinful and will eventually lead to being completely cut off from God, the Lord of the other pole. What a terribly destructive image this is. It leads people to shun and cut themselves off from one half of their beings!
