    The destruction visited upon the State of Louisiana by Hurricane Katrina is tremendous. But the response of the extended law enforcement family with their offers of help and aid has been equally tremendous. I am very proud that the Louisiana State Lodge is providing this service to the families of officers and all of us pray that they will get to see their loved ones again soon.

    The law enforcement officers in New Orleans and other areas started working when Hurricane Katrina was still out in the Gulf of Mexico. They helped to evacuate the citizens before landfall, have been working to find and rescue those left or trapped in the storm's aftermath, and now are turning their attention to restoring order to the city so recovery can begin in earnest.
