Nationality lost, nothing lost - religion lost, nothing lost - traditions lost, nothing lost - humanity lost, everything lost.

In a war, both sides genuinely believe that they are on the side of righteousness, yet no righteousness ever shows them the futility of the very war they are fighting. Because, both sides are driven by the instinctual force of nationalist patriotism. So, think of the countless wars that have caused gallons and gallons of bloodshed, all because warriors on both sides were incapable of reasoning due to the cognitive blindness caused by nationalism.

In any war, except that for freedom from oppression, victory of any nation, is the defeat of all nations, because each war comes at the cost of lives, in the name of the same old tribal loyalty.

This is what nationalism does. It blinds you to rational arguments that may threaten the integrity of your nation's image, just like fundamentalism blinds you to rational arguments that may threaten the integrity of your religion's image. It's a smoke screen created by the mind and sustained by the mind by means of sentiments which are mostly biases in action, set in motion to protect your barbaric allegiance to your little tribe.

Those who obey without contemplation, never attains holiness.

If you think of your own mother to be the only true mother in the world and thereby start belittling people from other mothers as bastards, that makes you a bigot and a germ on the face of earth. This is an unhealthy bias, even though in your personal mental universe it may provide you extreme comfort. This is exactly what we see in the religious fundamentalists.

The four greatest threats to humanity are fundamentalism, nationalism, transhumanism and democracy.

To the militant atheist I say, there's more to life than cold facts. And at the same time, to the religious fanatics I say, there's more to life than blind faith.

The greatest threat to the world is not any specific faith, for faith is nature's anti-dote to misery. The greatest threat to the world is intolerance, regardless of its religious, non-religious, political or intellectual background.
