How is it that my prayers have devolved into a laundry list of requests verses an endless litany of praises? It may be that I’ve replaced the magnificence of God’s divinity with the baseness of my desires.

My goals exceed the reach of my energies, but my God exceeds the reach of my goals.

If my heart is set on pursuing real treasures, my mind must be fixed solely on the privilege of enjoying them and freed of the obsession of owning them.

Despite how utterly massive they might be, it is never the size of the arsenal nor the strength of the warrior. Rather, it is a heart bent on sacrifice that is the most potent weapon of all.

Probably more than anything, our priorities tell us how much of a priority we’ve placed upon thinking about what our priorities should be before we decided that they should be our priorities. And for many of us, it’s rather apparent that our priority was anything but thinking.

I would rather have the approval of God over the accolades of men. For while men might 'lift' me up, God is the only One who can 'take' me up.

Sometimes the very things that we’re expending our lives to sustain are the very things that are killing our ability to live. And against our blind and frequently raging protests, these are the very things that God let’s die so that we can live.

It is when the house has fallen and the precious collections of my life lay in scattered ruins all around me that I suddenly realize that I built a whole lot of house, but I forgot to build any kind of foundation.

Whatever I ‘align’’ myself with are the very things that will create a ‘line’ into my future.
