If life’s bigger than any of us individually or all of us collectively, then there must be something bigger than us to walk us through it.

Lives are transformed in the solitude of those entirely unassuming moments where one life turns sufficiently away from itself in order to brush by another, and in the brushing it leaves that life forever better. And if I am privileged to have any legacy at all, let it be a million of these moments.

As I contemplate a relationship with God, I find that I’m afraid to ride on the coattails of the infinite. But what I fear more than that is spending my life in the coat closet.

Vulnerability creates unimaginable space to build each other up, as much as it creates ample room to tear each other down.

It is not about our world collapsing. Rather, it’s about another human being holding our hand in the collapse. For then the carnage is no longer about the loss, but about what both of these hands are going to build from it.

I cannot live without you. For to attempt to do so would be to rob both of us of each other, and that is thievery of the greatest sort.

Love never lives on a one-way street, for it will always come back up the road bigger than how we had sent it down the road.

It’s not solving someone’s problem. Rather, it’s solving the loneliness that they’re experiencing while they’re facing the problem.
