Sure, there are many roads to heaven. But there is only one that actually gets there.

Without God, we will build roads to nowhere. Therefore, all of the dead-ends that we end up at shouldn’t be all that surprising.

No matter the height of them, faith takes the mountains that stand in front of us and makes them the road that passes under us.

All too soon the garden of childhood is paved cold with the asphalt roads of adulthood. And while it is not within her power to halt this unrelenting progression, a mother can diligently guard this most precious garden and insure that the roads become gentle paths that wind through it instead of byways that kill it.

Our roads are most often a tawdry detour we have chosen because the press of pain or the push of greed drove us off the path.

We can walk to ‘nowhere’ and think that ‘nowhere’ is ‘somewhere.’ For such are the roads paved by men. Yet, the humility of a manger and the magnificence of a cross constructed a road to the ‘everywhere’ that forever abolished the ‘nowhere’ of men.

Devastation is in fact the raw material from which the best journeys are forged and the richest roads are paved.

Arrogance is a map of a road that leads to bridges that are out.

While our roads might be markedly different, the fact that we are both walking a road intimately unites us. And if we each dare to step onto each other’s road for even a moment, we can profoundly enhance the journey for both of us. And so, might I invite you over.
