God in His omnipotence says, ‘Here it is.’ And we in our ignorance say, ‘No it’s not!’ And in the end there it was, and where it is we are not.

What we build certainly might look like a refuge, but if it wasn't designed by God it's something more akin to a leaky tent in the middle of a category 5 hurricane on a Monday morning. Nothing about it is good.

I cannot confuse the ‘battle’ with the ‘war’. For out of my weakness I am bound to lose a battle, but out of God’s strength I am guaranteed to win the war.

When we say it is the whole story, the cross tells us that death is only half the story. And it is by far the least compelling half.

I possess the rather amazing ability to cure the need to ever be cured again. And I can do that simply by claiming the ability to cure myself. For in doing so, it won’t be long before I won’t be around to be cured.

Wisdom without God is just an idea that’s not wise enough to understand that it’s just an idea.

If God is going to be all that He is, I must reach a point where I am emptied of all that I am. It’s only then that the fullness of God has space in the emptiness of me.

For if the nature of the story is such that my mother left me with deficits and scars, I can know that the nature of God is such that He will leave me blessings and health.

Far too often I attempt to create that which God has already created. And maybe what I need to ‘create’ is the understanding that I will always fail to outdo what God has already done.
