People only show bright side of their life. Light can't exist without darkness. There is mess in everybody's life. Hidden mess stinks even more.

They may make friends who are not good from your perspective. To make them feel equal, you must accept their friend circle. Or just completely separate from them and let them live their life their own way.

Maya (Space-Time) takes away more than it gives. The neighbour whose lifestyle you envy has bigger problems than yours.

Unique things can't be compared. Human beings discard their uniqueness and try to become like each other so that they can compare with each other.Comparison creates feeling of being superior or inferior, weak or powerful. Human being crave both. Feeling weak gives a different kind of release than feeling powerful.

A beggar is sad because his alms collection is lower than usual. An emperor is sad because his tax collection is lower than usual. You are on a circular ladder. There is always a lower and higher.

A homeless beggar is not in pain, His condition remains the same; he has become used to it. You are in pain because your condition is constantly changing. If a neighbour gets better car than yours, your condition has changed!

In spiritual context, ego doesn't mean just the superiority complex. Those who have inferiority complex have even bigger egos. Ego means strong identification with a particular body-mind which leads to unhealthy comparison with other body-minds.
