After developing serious mental and physical health issues during and after a decade in high altitude astronomy, I decided to dedicate my mind and body to medical research for the biological science of High Altitude Observatory Disease (HAOD).

I followed my interest in Space and turned it into a career that ultimately sent me into disability at the age of 45 after many years of mental and physical problems.

Industrial liquid gas containers were left open and venting gas into the indoor environment in high altitude astronomy. On reflection, I realized that I routinely observed mental and physical effects that match those of a low oxygen environment in staff that I supervised.

By offering cheaper prices online, the retailer educated me to never purchase in their physical store. By offering unconditional returns, they taught me to return poor products. By blocking my ability to return poor products because I made too many returns, they conditioned me to always shop at their competitors.

The short term effects of very high altitude ‘Summit Brain’ tend to progress into long term neurological and physical impairments.

In modern society, it is not enough to be an engineer, a doctor, a chemist, a biologist, or a physicist, you must be all of them to understand why human health is failing on such a massive scale.

The prime of my life was mired in strange physical and mental illness.

Any worker that takes a job in high altitude astronomy needs to be prepared to lose their mental and physical health, and possibly to develop gender issues.

I suspect that if the long term summit workers of the Mauna Kea Observatories (MKO) were studied, they would find elevated levels of mental and physical illness, gender dysphoria, disease and premature death that comes from keeping them in an abnormal state of mal-acclimatization.
