My skin, my breasts, my womanhood- they come with a history of enduring strength. They come with a history of sacrifice and perseverance. They come with a history of hope.

I do not need to find happiness. I can create happiness all on my own.

I am learning to say no to my family. I am learning to say no to my friends. I am learning to say no to my work. Setting boundaries is a good thing.

I am a woman regardless if I am the woman you think I should be.

No one can take away my heritage or history. At the same time, it is up to me to discover and embrace that knowledge.

I can listen to what my elders have to say and still do the opposite of what they think is right. It is my life to live. I am responsible for it.

I forgive myself for not being who I wanted to be in the past so I can focus on being who I want to be now.
