Anthony Hopkins was born on 31 December 1937 in Port Talbot, holding both United Kingdom and United States citizenship. His early education took him through West Monmouth School and Cowbridge Grammar School before he pursued formal dramatic training at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and subsequently at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, a sequence of institutions that prepared him for a career across multiple creative disciplines.

Hopkins works as an actor, film director, composer, and producer. In 1993, Queen Elizabeth II knighted him for his services to drama. He has received two Academy Awards over the course of his career, and in 2005 he was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
