Dan Scanlon
Dan Scanlon is an American filmmaker, animator, and storyboard artist born on June 21, 1976, in Clawson, Michigan.
Scanlon studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, building a foundation that would carry him into work as a director, screenwriter, writer, visual artist, and executive producer. He directed the Pixar animated film Monsters University, released in 2013, which marked a significant step in his career as a feature film director. He followed that with Onward in 2020, another Pixar animated film, which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Across his career, Scanlon has worked in multiple roles within animation and filmmaking, including as a storyboard artist and actor, and has worked in both English and Slovene. His output centers on animated feature filmmaking, with his two directing credits both coming from Pixar.
