It just got to where we had to do something to protect the quality of fishing, and to stop the prop scarring.

For a period we'll be educating boaters. The intent is not necessarily writing tickets from the start. Hopefully peer pressure and word of mouth will make it work.

About three years in between fires is enough that a wildfire will burn pretty well. It's not a matter of if it's going to burn, it's when. Fires are natural in Florida.

The prop scarring is heavy, and studies have shown that it takes seven years for a bottom to heal.

We may start to get more spot fires.
