Fiona Shaw
Fiona Shaw is an Irish and British actor, stage actor, film actor, and director, born on 10 July 1958 in County Cork, Ireland.
She studied at University College Cork before training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, the preparation that grounded what became a career spanning theatre, film, and directing. Her work across these forms earned her Laurence Olivier Awards and the Theatre World Award, recognitions that mark sustained achievement in performance. In 2001, Queen Elizabeth II appointed her an Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire, and she has also received an honorary doctorate.
Shaw's practice moves across stage and screen with equal commitment, and her work as a director places her among performing artists who have extended their engagement with dramatic material beyond acting alone.
