Mo Willems
Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! is a children's picture book written and illustrated by Mo Willems, and it stands as one of his notable works in the picture book genre. Willems also received the Christopher Award during his career, a recognition that connects to his broader output in children's literature.
Willems was born on February 11, 1968, and was educated at Isidore Newman School before continuing his studies at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. A United States citizen who works in English, he has pursued a career that spans writing, illustration, animation, screenwriting, film direction, and caricature, with a sustained focus on children's books and picture books. These varied professional roles as writer, illustrator, animator, screenwriter, film director, and caricaturist form the foundation from which his work in children's publishing has emerged.
In addition to Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Willems created the children's book Knuffle Bunny and the Elephant & Piggie series of children's books. The Elephant & Piggie series represents an extended body of work within early reader fiction. For his contributions to children's literature, Willems received the Geisel Award, which joins the Christopher Award as a concrete marker of his work across the field of children's publishing.
Quotes by Mo Willems

The first bowl of chocolate pudding was too hot, but Goldilocks ate it all anyway because, hey, it’s chocolate pudding, right?

We create our work for children not because they’re “cute,” but because they’re human beings, deserving of respect.

You have made my day a little better, and I hope I have made your day a little better, too.

A book, being a physical object, engenders a certain respect that zipping electrons cannot. Because you cannot turn a book off, because you have to hold it in your hands, because a book sits there, waiting for you, whether you think you want it or not, because of all these things, a book is a friend. It’s not just the content, but the physical being of a book that is there for you always and unconditionally.

Conditions may vary. We will strive to make your stay as comfortable as possible. However there will be turbulence. There will be unexpected events. There will be human error. Fortunately, we are happy to provide you love. At no extra cost.
