Paul Cézanne was a French Post-Impressionist painter, draftsperson, lithographer, and printmaker born on January 19, 1839, in Aix-en-Provence.
He received part of his artistic training at the Académie Suisse and worked across several visual disciplines, including painting, drawing, lithography, and printmaking. Associated with the Post-Impressionist movement, Cézanne produced work in the still life genre alongside his other output as a maker of images in multiple media.
Among his notable works are The Card Players and Mont Sainte-Victoire. He died on October 22, 1906, in Aix-en-Provence, the same city where he had been born, and the still life genre remained one of the recurring areas of his practice.
