It's just a matter of keeping him relaxed. He doesn't have to be Superman. He just needs to go out and execute all the plays that he's been working on this week.

There?s a lot of work to do, no question, just like the other 116 Division I teams in the nation.

They're all pretty excited about it, but they also understand the practice squad can be a week-to-week thing,

They're a much different team than we played a year ago - a much improved team. We know they're going to be disciplined. They're going to be well-coached. They're going to play hard.

There's a bigger transition period for a kicker. You're used to kicking off a tee in high school. You don't have the same rush. You don't get in as many pressure kicks. It takes maybe two years for a kicker to get everything underneath him. If you can get three solid years out of a kicker, I think that's a lot.

There were some positives. No one got hurt.

A lot of these kids get rated in their junior year. There's a lot that happens between a kid's junior year and their senior year in terms of maturity, development and understanding the game. ... The ratings and all those things, that stuff never bothers me because we're going to make our evaluations.

The university has a very stringent Student Code of Conduct. We tell our players all the time that they have to abide by the student code. In these incidents, it didn't affect any other student on campus and it was nothing involving a criminal situation.

You're allowed to have 85 on scholarship come August. It doesn't matter how many you sign as long as you're at 85 come preseason practice. Believe me, it's been thought out. I did get a degree. I know how to add and subtract.

You're not game-planning for your defense. You're just trying to install your base protections, your base running plays, your base passing plays.
