Scott Samuel Braun — known professionally as Scooter Braun — was born on June 18, 1981, in New York City. A United States citizen educated at Greenwich High School and later at Emory University, he built his career at the intersection of pop music, business, and talent management, eventually working as a talent manager, record executive, investor, and actor.

Braun's professional trajectory gained considerable momentum in 2008, when he discovered and began managing Canadian singer Justin Bieber. He went on to sign American singer Ariana Grande to his management agency in 2012, and over the following years provided career management for a wide-ranging roster that included Kanye West, Demi Lovato, J Balvin, Ozuna, Dan + Shay, and the Kid Laroi.
