Born on Christmas Eve 1973 in Hartford, Stephenie Meyer went on to become the bestselling author in the United States for both 2008 and 2009 — a run during which she sold over 29 million books in 2008 alone and 26.5 million the following year.
Meyer grew up in Phoenix, Arizona, the second of six children born to Stephen and Candy Morgan. She attended Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, before earning a BA in English Literature from Brigham Young University in 1997. She married Christian "Pancho" Meyer in 1994, and prior to her writing career she worked as a receptionist at a property company. Writing in English, she works primarily in the fantasy and romance genres.
Meyer is a novelist, screenwriter, film producer, and entrepreneur. She's known for the novel Twilight and for The Host. The Twilight series has sold over 160 million copies and has been translated into 37 languages. Her work reaches readers well beyond the United States, a fact underscored by the international scope of those translations.
