Steve Ray
Stevie Ray Vaughan was an American guitarist, singer-songwriter, blues musician, and composer whose work in the blues, blues rock, rock, and funk genres defined much of his career during the 1980s.
Born on October 3, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, Vaughan grew up in the United States and attended Justin F. Kimball High School. He went on to build a career as a musician working across multiple genres, with blues and blues rock at the core of his output. As a guitarist and singer-songwriter, he composed and performed music that earned him Grammy Awards, a recognition that placed him among the more decorated musicians of his era.
Vaughan died on August 27, 1990, in East Troy, at the age of 35. The Library of Congress catalogs him under the authorized label "Vaughan, Stevie Ray," a designation that reflects his lasting presence in recorded music collections across the country.
