Terry Wogan was an Irish-British television presenter, radio personality, game show host, narrator, and autobiographer who worked in English throughout a career based largely at the BBC.

Born on 3 August 1938 in Limerick, Ireland, Wogan was educated at Crescent College and Belvedere College before going on to build a broadcasting career that spanned several decades. He held citizenship of both Ireland and the United Kingdom, a dual identity that reflected his move from Ireland to Britain, where the BBC became his principal employer for most of his working life.

Among his long-running commitments at the BBC was the Radio 2 weekday breakfast programme Wake Up to Wogan, which he presented from 1993 to 2009. That sixteen-year run on morning radio placed him in the daily routines of a substantial listening audience and stood alongside his parallel work as a television presenter and game show host. His work across both radio and television made him a consistent presence in British broadcasting over many years.

In recognition of his contributions, Wogan received two honours from the British Crown: first the Officer of the Order of the British Empire, and later the Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He died on 31 January 2016 in Taplow, England.
