Born Tremaine Aldon Neverson on November 28, 1984, in Petersburg, Virginia, the artist who would become known professionally as Trey Songz was discovered by record producer Troy Taylor in 2003, the same year he signed to Songbook Entertainment in a joint venture with Atlantic Records.
Trey Songz attended Petersburg High School before his career in music took shape. Working across contemporary R&B and hip-hop, he has established himself as a singer, songwriter, composer, rapper, record producer, and actor. His debut album, I Gotta Make It, arrived in 2005 and entered the Billboard 200 at number 20, marking a solid commercial introduction for a young artist still finding his footing in a competitive industry.
His second album, Trey Day, followed in 2007 and climbed to number 11 on the Billboard 200.
