I was raised in Austin, Texas, around trial lawyers. My friend and I - we were 14 - would go and watch her father try cases. I also heard of lot of Baptist preachers in little churches saying crazy things with such conviction.

It seems like the denomination is drawing lines more and more narrowly all the time at who can participate in the Southern Baptist Convention, and I think that is going to impact younger generations who want more diversity.

In some ways, it's not the professional music making you hear up at Ithaca College and Cornell. On the other hand, this is really coming from the hearts of people who live this music every week. From that standpoint, it's just amazing. There are lot of great musicians at Calvary Baptist and they sing from their hearts and souls, and the same at St. Paul's.

Here's about 30 signatures from a Sunday school class at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The outpouring of support has meant a lot.

Perhaps we should worry less about judging people for being Mormon or Baptist or Muslim or gay or straight or black or white or Latino or by their religious or political brands and worry more about electing thoughtful, serious and ethical politicians on both sides of the political isle who are willing to work together for progress.

We're already meeting with families utilizing our shelter (in West Jackson Baptist Church) and in the immediate area, getting the preliminary casework needed and pairing their needs to the proper agencies, and we'll be doing that throughout the 11 counties we serve. We'll be in Brownsville Monday, where there are 100 refugees in various locations, and in Selmer Tuesday, where there are 40 more.

I was raised by my grandma and grandpa in Florida. My grandpa was a Primitive Baptist minister, and all of these ladies, I know. This is like coming home. It's a joy to experience this young girl going through what she needs to go through to get to a place of comfort. To watch someone grow up and the village extend itself to her.

Nothing has been given to us all year long. I told them before our half of the eighth, it's time to get this done or we'll have to travel (to First Baptist today.) I'm really proud of how we've battled all year.

She touched a lot of lives teaching. And she played the organ at (Speed Baptist Church) for over 60 years.

At the Groveton Baptist Church we are teaching about 300 students in morning and evening classes each Tuesday and Thursday. There is so much interest that we had to close registration for this session several weeks ago. We simply do not have enough teachers.
