In the past there was a difference between the conditions in which Hizballah operated in Lebanon and the conditions of resistance operated in Palestine.

It is as if (the Syrian protests) were a lesson to some in Lebanon to do the same.

Every time Lebanon takes a step forward, there are those who want to undermine this country.

Violence would be a huge gift to those who want a divided Lebanon.

But Lebanon will never be ruled from Syria. This will no longer happen.

Lebanon made some adjustments and we didn't react too well.

Syria is trying to strengthen its hegemony in Lebanon by controlling more and more institutions,

Middle East by the Arab Muslim caliphate, ending with Muslim fragmentation and the Iranian Buyid capture of Abbasid Baghdad, saw Muslim and Maronite establishment in Mount Lebanon.

Everyone lives in a proverbial music video for a few hours. Then they leave the blinged out universe of faux-independence and fleeting adulthood and return to their parents’ homes. Their parents’ homes replete with marble floors and gold chandeliers and expectations of virginal daughters.

Nothing is very constant in Beirut. Certainly not dreams. But despair isn’t constant either. Beirut is a city to be loved and hated a thousand times a day. Every day. It is exhausting, but it is also beautiful.
