Sometimes, late at night, I tend to dwell on negative times in my life. What I find about writing is, once those negative times and people are written about, I dwell on them less.

If you write about the dark side of people, you are more likely to be closer to the truth, because people don’t pretend to be dark, nearly as much as they pretend to be good.

Like with many jobs, the key to writing is to turn up.

There are two types of writers, those who write to live, and those who live to write.

I have nothing to do each day, but write, drink, and run out of money.

Unlike a public performance, such as stand-up comedy, or a live play, reading a book is a very private experience. No one wants to be told what to read, or what they are reading is unsuitable, immoral, racist, sexist, or offensive, as they read a book, in the privacy of their own room. That is why literature will be the last bastion, in the arts at least, of free choice, free speech and free expression.

Writers begin with a grain of sand, and then create a beach.

To be honest, I write for myself. Therapy, I suppose people would call it. So when someone buys and reads one of my stories, and calls it a piece of shit, I can only assume they have not gained the same therapeutic effect from it, as I did, when I wrote it.
