Meat Loaf
Michael Lee Aday, better known by his stage name Meat Loaf, was an American singer, singer-songwriter, and actor whose work spanned rock and related genres.
Born in Dallas on September 27, 1947, Meat Loaf attended Thomas Jefferson High School and later studied at the University of North Texas and Lubbock Christian University. His education took him through several institutions in Texas before he pursued careers in both music and acting.
As a recording artist, his work drew from rock, hard rock, heavy metal, and progressive rock. He received the Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, and he also received the Echo Pop Award for Best International Rock/Pop Male Artist. Alongside his music, he maintained an acting career, working across both performance tracks throughout his life.
Meat Loaf died on January 20, 2022, in Nashville. Rock, hard rock, heavy metal, and progressive rock were the genres that defined the body of work he left behind.
