It was a fortunate stroke of serendipity, to end up in a country that boasts of the top ten cancer hospitals in the world. Cancer treatment in the United States is unparalleled.

If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a bloody army to battle cancer.

There’s a phenomenon known as “chemo brain.” She described it as feeling foggy, not being as sharp or alert, to which I said, “So, I’ll finally know what it’s like to be above average?

The miracle of life they call it, and it truly is a miracle. The birth of my two children is the closest I have felt to God. I cannot explain it, but there is something about that moment when the baby comes out that is spellbinding and so pure, the most honest, incorruptible moment of my life.

My story is a culmination of epic fumbles, brilliant coincidences, extraordinary twists of fate, and divine intervention. It is the story of an immigrant, an engineer, a wife, and a mother. But more importantly, it is the story of a cancer survivor.

Parents say they’ll do anything for their children, including take a bullet. This is me saying I’d go through cancer treatment, and even laugh for them.

There is so much kindness in this world. It is unfortunate that it took this cancer to help me see it. But I see it everywhere now—more kindness than hate, more empathy than indifference.
