Paul Vernon Hornung was an American football and basketball player born on December 23, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky.
Hornung was educated at Flaget High School in Louisville before going on to attend the University of Notre Dame. His time in football ultimately earned him induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, one of the sport's most formal recognitions of career achievement. Hornung died on November 13, 2020, in Louisville, the same city where he had been born more than eight decades earlier. His career spanned both American football and basketball, and his work on the football field was significant enough to bring him the distinction of Hall of Fame recognition.
