You want to play the best and be the best. I think the people at the university and in Southern Utah are starting to understand if they go out to a game, they're going to get a good game.

You can't take anything away from (Texas State). They are one tough ball club. I give them a lot of credit, but there are things we need to fix.

That money benefits the whole athletic department. Our programs can get much better all the way around if we spearhead it with the scholarships.

The biggest concern I have right now is the numbers on our o-line and d-line. We're so short that most of those guys are taking every rep and they're kind of getting beat up a little bit.

Defensively, we had a tough time bringing them down. We gave up a lot of extra yards we shouldn't have given up. We have to get ball carriers wrapped up.

Right now, we're not ready to make it. I know people are anxious to hear it, but we're looking for different things from different quarterbacks.

There's no doubt in my mind that his experience will help us. He's a complete package runner.

We could do a better job opening things up, that's for sure. There are some days when things just don't go your way like they did last week.

We wouldn't have gone after him if we didn't think he would come in and be an impact player. He's one of the best corners I've seen in (the Western States Football League). He can cover and has good speed and can lay a hit on, all the things you want in a cornerback.

Johnny's a great addition for us. He's a tough kid that runs the ball hard. He's got finesse, but he's also hard-nosed. He's not going to cower away from any defender. He was a great addition in that respect.
