Right now there's just one active brewery in Philadelphia and that's Yards.

When I started doing research in 1980, the forecast was: In 10 years, there's going to be one huge beer company. After Prohibition ended in 1933, beer was the first thing to come back. But after a while, we started to lose three or four breweries per year.

I guess I'm stuck in the middle. I can't say he's doing a bad job. I think there's this annoyance with all this other stuff.

Since then, the industry has flourished. Some people overextended themselves and went out of business, but there is no shortage of good brewing in this area.
