Shaukat Aziz is a Pakistani-born banker, economist, and politician who served as the fifteenth Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Born on 6 March 1949 in Karachi, Aziz received his schooling at St Patrick's High School in Karachi and Abbottabad Public School, before going on to study at Gordon College and subsequently at the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi. These institutions shaped his early formation in finance and economics, fields that would come to define the arc of his public career.

Aziz entered Pakistani public life in a dual capacity that combined economic management with political authority. On 6 November 1999 he was appointed Finance Minister of Pakistan, a post he would hold continuously for nearly eight years. During that period he also assumed the office of Prime Minister on 28 August 2004, becoming the fifteenth person to hold that position. He served as Prime Minister until 15 November 2007, the same date on which his tenure as Finance Minister formally concluded. When his term as Prime Minister ended on 15 November 2007, Aziz departed Pakistan without delay and settled in the United Kingdom.
