It is as difficult for most poor people to truly believe that they could someday escape poverty as it is for most wealthy people to truly believe that their wealth could someday escape them.

The middle class were invented to give the poor hope; the poor, to make the rich feel special; the rich, to humble the middle class.

Because of things such as arrogance, alcohol, and promiscuity, some people are each a legend in the unmaking.

A mere compliment has been the seed of some people’s downfall.

For our success to happen, millions of billions of things, the vast majority of which were neither in our control nor in our awareness, needed not only to happen but also to happen how, when, where, and—in some cases—for how long, they have happened; and to happen to the things and the people to whom they have happened.

Those who know the least want to be heard the most.

Believing in God makes one humble … and arrogant: those who do give their actions and their abilities way less credit than they really deserve, and are inevitably left with the unshakable belief that they are way more important to life than they actually are.

We are not as important to most people as we are to ourselves. As a matter of fact, we are—to most people—not important at all.

There is a correlation between how much convinced we are that we do not need some things and how much we need them.
