He's an exciting kid to watch. He has the arm and the gift to do whatever he wants.

I don't really believe in a guy having to get his feet wet in the bullpen. If he's mature and he can handle situations, he's mastered the level he's at, by all means, he's earned the right to come up here and join the rotation.

He's starting to believe in how good he can be. He keeps throwing like that, it's exciting to see that kind of stuff. He's very excited. It's exciting when you see results happen right away. It's positive reinforcement, and he got to see some results happen. Pitched (Monday). Pitched again (Tuesday). It's nice.

I'm happy with what he's doing. Obviously the results aren't what we all wanted. But he'll continue to improve and that's what we're looking for.

I haven't changed anything. Change is a word I can't stand.

I'm looking forward to having a good season with these guys and developing some quality Major League pitchers. I know we have some really good arms here. I am excited to work with them. They seem very excited.

I just watch guys. It's like, when the student is ready, the teacher will come. That's it.

I know what he's doing and I know he feels good. I know he's ready. He has the intangibles. He has a good head on his shoulders. He's athletic. He was brought up the right way. He has a lot of things going for him. You can see that from shaking his hand.

Suggestions. That's the best word. I suggest things to them. If they want to run with it, fine.

The ball comes nice out of Shinji's hand, a nice smooth delivery. He looked good.
